The E-Gene

Generally, our clients are small business owners who have that “e-gene” in them. They are creative, big picture thinkers. They’ve got vision, passion and feel rewarded when their plans come together and they see results.

They think: “I gotta do this. I gotta sing my own song, do it better than the other guy, create the solution for my own problem.”.

Committed

Most of our clients have been in business for between 2 and 20 years. Their business has either been through few economic cycles, or this is their first exciting economic cycle, and they are committed to sticking with it and doing what it takes to change, morph and come out the other side. While they may have diversified what they offered to make it through, they are committed to their business and doing all it takes to reach their goals.

Usually their companies provide services to their customers and clients like financial advisors, real estate agents, franchise owners, travel agents, attorneys, caterers, construction, graphic designers, et cetera; brick and mortar and virtual; B2C companies and B2B Companies.

Most of the time, our clients have between 2-5 paid staff or they outsource production and support work to vendors. You know, like hiring a virtual assistant.

In all cases, these business owners are growth oriented. Their clients and customers value their business and the business owner is always looking for ways to improve their customer service.

Where They Get Stuck

Big picture business creation is the entrepreneur’s forte. These driven and enthusiastic folk often get overwhelmed by the development and application of on-the-ground tactics and systems to get them from point A to point B. The small business owner is also crippled by not knowing what they don’t know, e.g. how to effectively delegate so staff supports the goals, hiring the right people to be on the bus, how to identify key performance indicators.

Their staff, or outsourced administrative support, is really good at being directed and doesn’t have the skill set to see the big picture business strategy and then create solutions to fix the broken systems.

Symptoms of broken systems manifest in overwhelm, frustration, disorganization, ”catch and release” hiring of staff, late nights in the office, and stagnant financial progress.
